Ishaqzaade is a 2012 Bollywood romantic drama film written and directed by Habib Faisal, and produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films. The film stars Arjun Kapoor in his debut alongside Parineeti Chopra. The official trailer was released on 15 March 2012 and the film was released on May 11, 2012.

Plot

In a small town in UP where muscle powers reigns and politics is conducted through the muzzle of a gun, Parma (Arjun Kapoor) is one of the grandsons of Chauhan, a political leader who is contesting for the post of the MLA. Chauhan’s bête noire, Qureshi, is the current MLA of the area. Chauhan and Qureshi are sworn enemies, whose fight for supremacy often leads to gun battles in broad daylight. Parma, who is one of the ringleaders of the Chauhan family, wants to rise up the family ladder. He brazenly uses his might to do things for the family. On the other hand, Zoya (Parineeti Chopra), Qureshi‘s gusty daughter, is no less than her brothers in her hate for the Chauhans. While canvassing for votes in their college, Parma and Zoya have a tiff and Zoya slaps Parma in front of everyone. As he has orders from the family patriarch to not indulge in violence, Parma stops short of shooting Zoya. Soon, he falls for her and woos her till she reciprocates his love. The two meet secretly and even get married in the presence of two of Parma’s friends. Immediately afterwards, Parma has sex with Zoya. Then, to her surprise, he abandons her, claiming revenge for the slap. Parma even uses photos of Zoya getting married in the Hindu way – without showing his own face – to ruin her family’s name. As a result, Zoya’s dad loses the election. Parma becomes his grandfather’s blue eyed boy. Zoya’s father decides to snap all ties with her. Zoya, meanwhile, escapes from her home with the intention to put a bullet in Parma’s head.

Varun Tamta as Chauhan Flunky

Critical Reception

Ishaqzaade received positive mixed reviews. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5, saying that "On the whole, ISHAQZAADE, a volatile and intense story with ample doses of fanatical romance, should appeal to a pan-India audience. This broadly engaging love story has a winsome pair who deliver dexterous performances, besides popular music and several poignant moments, which should appeal to fans of mainstream films. Go for it!"Mrigank Dhaniwala of Koimoi gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5, commenting that "On the whole, Ishaqzaade is an entertaining fare which works on the strength of its first half and the performances."Khalid Mohamed of Deccan Chronicle gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5, concluding that "Ishaqzaade kicks off weakly and has its share of the deja pooh. Gradually, though, it gets under your skin..and rocks. Absolutely See-grade."Rachit Gupta of Filmfare gave the movie 3 stars out of 5, quoting that "On the face of it, this is a fantastic Indian adaptation of Romeo And Juliet. But if you’ve ever loved someone without a sense of inhibition, then deeper in the recesses of its story Ishaqzaade is a saga of love being more important than life and death." Daily Bhaskar gave the movie 3 stars out of 5, writing that "Brilliant performance by the lead cast, an ecstatic climax which breaks the typical ‘happily ever after’ ending, is surely one of the top reasons to visit your nearest theatre. People from metros might find it difficult to relate to the culture or political drama that involves frequent gun-firing. Arjun and Parineeti’s chemistry will remind one of the ‘Ek-Duje Ke Liye’ genre of love stories from Bollywood."[16] Shomini Sen of Zee News gave the movie 3 stars out of 5, noting that "Habib Faisal’s earlier film ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ had captured the Delhi and Punjabi culture well. In ‘Ishaqzaade’, he captures a small town in northern India and its typical nuances well."Kunal Guha of Yahoo gave the movie 2.5 stars out of 5, explaining that "Don’t go to watch this film hoping to be blown away by the story or the script or the unexpected ‘kahani mein twist’. There is very little that you’ve not seen somewhere before. Go for this film to slip into the mood and become a reckless lover with little care for repercussions or consequences. Go to watch this film to become an ‘Ishaqzaade’."Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN gave the movie 2.5 stars out of 5, saying that "'Ishaqzaade' benefits considerably from Amit Trivedi's excellent soundtrack and Hemant Chaturvedi's sharp cinematography. Faisal creates a believable world with charming characters, and his leads have crackling chemistry. I'm going with two-and-a-half out of five for director Habib Faisal's 'Ishaqzaade'. It's far from perfect, but you won't be bored." Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave the movie 2.5 stars out of five stars, writing that "If only Arjun Kapoor's dialogue delivery had greater punch and Parineeti Chopra could pull off the emotional moments without going shrill, Ishaqzaade would have been a markedly better film." Mansha Rastogi of Now Running gave the movie 2 stars out of 5, concluding that "To sum it up, Ishaqzaade had the potential to turn into a blockbuster but sadly, the opportunity got wasted." Blessy Chettiar of DNA India gave the movie 2 starts out of 5, quoting that "Watch if you must, go expecting nothing. You might just enjoy Ishaqzaade." Raja Sen of Rediff gave the movie 2 stars out of 5, stating that "The second half of Ishaqzaade lets it down. On the whole, Ishaqzaade, despite its artistry, deserves no pardon.

Dangerous Ishhq (Dangerous Love) is a 2012 Hindi film directed by Vikram Bhatt with Karisma Kapoor playing the lead role. The filming began on September 7, 2010. The release of the film is set to release on May 11, 2012.

Plot

The story of the film spans over a period of five centuries and tells five different stories set in many time periods. Supermodel Sanjana (Karisma Kapoor) and Rohan (Rajneesh Duggal), son of one of the nation's foremost business tycoons have been one of the most popular couples in the social circuit. When Sanjana decides against flying to Paris at the last minute for a lucrative modeling assignment, she does so, not just because she cannot bear to stay away from her boyfriend Rohan, but more importantly because her instincts push her against going. But what her instincts cannot do is stop Rohan from getting kidnapped. The high profile kidnapping creates chaos in Sanjana's life. The kidnappers demand 50 crore (US$9.98 million). The police however believe that even paying the ransom will not bring Rohan back.

Cast

Karisma Kapoor as Sanjana
Rajneesh Duggal as Rohan
Divya Dutta
Jimmy Shergill as ACP Singh

Dangerous Ishhq received negative reviews. Daily Bhaskar gave the movie 3 stars out of 5, saying that "Overall, with Dangerous Ishhq, Karisma Kapoor is back with her new innings as a powerful actor, who can prove to be troublesome for the reigning Bollywood beauties."Kathika Kandpal of Filmfare gave the movie 2 stars out of 5, concluding that "Watch this and you might feel Karisma’s Baaz – A Bird In Danger (2003) was a classic." Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the movie 1.5 stars out of 5, commenting that "On the whole, DANGEROUS ISHHQ is no patch on Vikram Bhatt's earlier achievements. This fantasy-driven film is an epic disappointment!" Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN gave the movie 1.5 stars out of 5, noting that "Ambitious but seriously flawed, the film smacks of laziness in virtually all departments, and even Karisma Kapoor's earnest performance can't save the day. I'm going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Vikram Bhatt's 'Dangerous Ishq'. Plodding on for close to two hours and thirty minutes, this film will make you wish you'd knocked back a stiff one before taking your seat." Mansha Rastogi of Now Running gave the movie 1 star out of 5, quoting that "Dangerous Ishhq is definitely very dangerous... to your sensibilities! Beware!" Blessy Chettiar of DNA India gave the movie 1 star out of 5, writing that "Dangerous Ishhq is like watching a Dr Brian Weiss book in 3D, after about 30 pages, it gets monotonous and uninteresting. There’s only so much curiosity you can have in somebody else’s life. By the end of the ordeal you wish to be treated to a past life regression theory to find out what was it that drew you to it. Go curse your karma now."Shubhra Gupta of Indian Express gave the movie 0.5 stars out of 5, noting that "Karisma looks unbelievably trim for a 'do-bachchon-ki-amma', but that doesn’t stop her from sliding all the way back into her familiar 90s style acting, where everything was over the top, from arch expressions to clothes to make-up. This is a terrible film, with not one redeeming factor."
